As part of our Year 6 and 7 Super Science topic, the children carried out an investigation to see how inks in markers are made up of more than one colour. The children used filter paper to carry out these 'chromatography' experiments. They could see how the water spread through the filter paper and were able to make observations when the colours of the ink separated. We wrote up our own Scientific observations, recorded results and made conclusions. To finish, for a little bit of fun, the children decorated their chromatography experiments and made them into Christmas baubles on the Christmas tree. A lot of fabulous learning experiences!
